Ok, Here it is. I purchased my second 2nd Gen GST a couple weeks back. The car had a few minor problems, but other than that, I got a steal on it. The only problem I am having right now is with the alternator. The first thing I noticed was that the alternator fuse was bad. I attempted to replace the fuse but stopped due to major arcing. I looking on the alternator and noticed that there was only set of wires running from the alternator to the battery. I looked on my other gst and there is a metal connector on the bottom bolt on the alternator, which isn't there on the gst with issues. Does anyone know what the other set of wires are for that are not present. Secondly, if they weren't hooked up, could this cause a short and make that fuse pop? Any comments welcome. Thanks.

Yeah, you are right, I guess it is a bracket. Should there be any other wires besides the two that run from the battery and the actual harness that plugs in. The car had been sitting for about 3 years, could the alternator itself be bad, causing the 100 amp fuse to arc like crazy when attempting to install it?

I got the alternator installed, and no more arcing. I guess it was a faulty old alternator. I now have realized there is a bolt broken off for the alternator support, which is going to be a pain to get out. At least the alternator is working. Thanks.
