So i picked up a 91 TSi AWD. the car starts and runs good as long as you dont touch the throttle. When even just the smallest amount of gas is applied it starts spuddering and tries to die. So i guess basicaly im just looking for possible things that would cause this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. No major mods to speak of on the car.

Check for vac leaks, spark plugs, ignition system, fuel filter, and fuel injection system. You say you just bought it, well you should do a full tune up with it. Change belts, air and fuel filters, spark plugs, flush the coolant system, change the oil, etc etc.

Thanks for the input. all the major service precautions have been made. everything has recently been replaced and plugs look decent. i think it might be an MAF problem or something, but seems like its something electrical.

Yea if you replaced the plugs and wires, seems like you have a major boost leak, esp. since the car is mostly stock. Had that happen to my car once where the car popped off the upper IC pipe, car ran like shit the 30 secs i had it on. Check that and report back.

Ive checked for boost leaks and have experienced that problem before. this is nothing like that. I maen the very instant i try to apply any little amount of throttle, i mean just a super tiny amount, it instantly runs like crap. On my honda this would almost come about as a TPS problem. is it the same with DSM's? im gonna also try to replace the MAF since this ones hacked to hell.

i had the same problem with my gsx,
it was a huge boost leak in the vac hoses and the intake mani gasket blew out
fixed all of that and tore out the emissions and blocked off the egr valve and havnt
had a problem since
one other thing it could be is my powe transisotr module had a faulty wire
in it and the car ran like crap popped the wire back in and everything was good to go too.
