I have a automatic transmission and whenever I start my car if I put it right in gear it won't move unless I rev it a couple times,it dosen't do it if I let my car warm up but it does it in all gears.Checked fluid, changed filter. It also feels like it takes extra power to accelerate, like something is holding it back, but it dosen't slip.Any suggestions?

sounds like a stretched band. now when you say you checked the fluid...your sure its the correct fluid type, level, etc. fluid level matters alot. but if all that is good the bands in the auto trans can stretch so its just a thought:dsm:

The level is dead on,type is what is listed in the manual.I've actually changed the fluid and filter 3 times in the last 3 thousand miles trying to get the tranny pan to quit leaking which the 3rd time was the charm. How do you fix the band?

the band is actually located inside the trans...unless you have been educated in automatic trans overhaul, i would leave it to the pros...i took auto trans in my training, and i still wouldnt do it myself:dsm:

its also possible that your torque converter clutch is bad...just a thought

Thank you.I will check into that. It's been doing this since I bought the car about a year ago.At first I thought it was normal, but I figured I was wrong!
