HEy guys i just rently got my 02 sensor changed . I would say a week later the engine light popped on for the o2 sensor. A week after that i decided to check my 02 sensor and it was burned. I was wondering if i bought the denso o2 sensor would it change anything. Denso Oxygen Sensor . Car is burning gas bad, like 108 miles to a tank. Car bucking . Hindered performance.

A new sensor would probably not help anything. You still have to determine the cause of running rich. You are getting too much fuel OR not enough air into the engine. If the car is bucking then you are most likely hitting fuel cut. This is 99% likely a boost leak. Either build a boost leak tester or buy one and test the car. Alternatively, you can do a quick check by making sure all the IC pipe clamps are tight (I had a few loose ones) and that there are no cracks in the piping (there are a variety of ways to test this although boost leak tester is the best). Also, remove the inter cooler, and check it for holes. Use any method you wish but check it for leaks. I had two HUGE leaks via my inter cooler causing the same symptoms you are describing. It turns out that the top (and bottom) of the inter cooler has some sort of plates attached to it with two rivets. What the purpose of these plates is I don't know but the point is that the rivets came loose and the plate POPPED off, leaving behind two rivet holes about 1mm in diameter. I was leaking a bunch of air causes a whole bunch of problems including bad performance, bad fuel mileage, car bucking and so on..... Also, boost leaks are a quick way to destroy a turbo because I has to work twice, three times, or 4 times as hard to get the same amount of boost / air flow. This will wear out the bears a LOT faster.

In conclusion, check for boost leaks and fix them. There may be other problems as well but this is the biggest one and should be first FIRST.

Good luck, Tom.

Yes, a bad front O2 sensor will cause the car to run rich resulting in horrible gas mileage and loss of power.

Why did you replace the O2 sensor in the first place? Were you able to confirm via logger or voltmeter that the sensor was in fact dead?

When you replaced it what brand O2 sensor did you use? Have you confirmed that this second one is in fact not working via logger/voltmeter? When you say "it was burned" do you mean it looks white from possibly too much heat or black and sooty from possibly running too rich?

I have a Denso O2 sensor on my car and it works perfectly and it mated to the connector perfectly. So if you know that your sensor has failed and you feel this is because it is cheap then try the Denso. But as Tom pointed out make sure that there isn't some other problem causing your sensors to fail.

BTW, you can get the sensor that you linked to much cheaper at the place shown in this link. I also have a '99. This is the exact one that you need:

Denso O2 sensor, Denso Oxygen sensor, wideband O2 sensor.

Search for part number 234-4026

Yup.....

Check for boost leaks and get a new sensor.

I got mine for $47.59 + Shipping here:

Make sure you check for boost leaks because theoretically a bad O2 alone should not cause the car to buck (unless you had a bad air flow sensor as well or ECU). Although I can not confirm this from my experience. Besides, it's never a bad idea to check for boost leaks.

Good luck:thumb:,

Tom

PS: Great title for the thread "Denso o2 housing"
