I noticed it while driving to Vegas from Los Angeles. I hear a humming coming from the front passanger side, and it "hums" when I accelerate. If I let off the gas, but still in gear, it goes away. It is a pulsating/humming noise. It seems to do it in every gear. If I take it out of gear it goes away.

Symptoms:
1.Only during acceleration
2.Any gear
3.Does not do it during deacceleration
4.Does not do it in nuetral

Changed the tranny oil, noticed no metal chips or anything. Humming is a lot less noticable but still there. Perhaps the bearings are on there way out?

Did you figure out the problem? I am having the same problem with my 97 gsx but it just happens in 2nd gear. The pulsating hum goes faster as the rpm climbs but as soon as I push the clucth in to shift to third, its gone. Even if I am in 3rd at a speed that I would usually been in 2nd its not there so thats how I know its just 2nd gear.

Yeah I figured it out. My tranny went out. I thought it was my differential that went out, but I got an email from jackstransmissions and Jon said my 4th gear broke:cry:. It's currently being rebuilt.
