Bueno, I got the Symoborski kit today, (works f***ing wonderful, by the way) but I'm having one little problem shifting, and I'm 99.9% sure I know what it is, but because I'm somewhat unused to imports, I just wanna get that .1%.

Sometimes, the transmission grinds a little when I try to shift up at high RPM's or downshift at low RPM's. Now, I'm pretty close to sure that I just don't have synchro's. (Which I'm fine with, actually. Most professional race cars don't, they weigh too much and take to long to be anywhere near effecient enough for competition, so a little practice wouldn't hurt before I go pro....:p)

I already adjusted the cables, though I did a pretty piss-poor job of it. (One cable snapped, took me two hours to fix that up, and the other was already welded shut by a previous owner.) But I'm sure the cables are pretty well in place, as it goes into gear just fine with the engine off, it'll completely lock in gear, not just barely make it, so I doubt that's it. I haven't done the bearing thingie yet, but my rubber bushings seem to be in good condition, not torn or worn out looking, still kinda pretty compared to some of the other parts on my gear box. (Freakin sexy!)

So, like I said, almost completely sure that it's no synchro's, but if you know of anything else, just let me know and I'll check it out and send you piles and piles of love letters if you bother to leave your address. (Or get you a hooker, I'd do it myself, but you probably wouldn't like me, I'd be crying the whole time.)

clutch not disengaging all the way? that's something off the top of my head that you can check.....checking/bleeding/replacing worn parts in the hydraulic clutch.... that can cause the clutch not to totally disengage and would cause grinds....

I had the same problem with a 90 awd. I ended up buying a longer shaft for the slave cyl. and it fixed the problem....try it.

you do have syncros in your tranny try changing the fluid and you only need the longer shaft if you have a aftermarket clutch that requires it.

Alright, nevermind. I found a bigger problem. My transmission is stuck in gear. The shifter moves around extra free, and the transmission won't come out of 4th gear. I haven't looked yet, (my lunch break isn't that long) but I think the cables came off the tranny. Shouldn't be too hard to fix, right? Perfect time to dig up my old skateboard....

And I could bery well not have synchros. I bought this car, and it had a fake 4g63. (Didn't have coolant injectors, engine fried in 20 minutes flat) So I'm not very trusting of this transmission. Oil in the transmission is about 340 miles old. And also, if I synchronize myself, it doesn't grind.

Shifter Cables!! I would just pop off your middle console and start from there - see if everything looks okay and then go deeper.

From what I know of this, which isn't TOO much - it could get pretty complicated and expensive.

Okay, figured it out, and it just so happened to solve my problem while I'm at it. (by the way, my clutch wasn't going all the way down, but it was just the floormat in the way.:| Uhhhh, bye, floormat?)

Actually, it was the little hydraulic device that connects the cables to the transmission. One of the bolts was out before, and the other one fell out during my lunch break.

Anyways, I bolted it back down. And I was so happy that I figured it out, that I searched for a tutorial on doing, and didn't find one, so I'll probably go ahead and put one up tomorrow. (It's bound to help somebody)

Other than that, rock on and thanks guys.

And by the way, if it's just the cables you're worried about, they're actually pretty simple to work on, and cost about $5 at a junkyard.
