Grinding when braking

Whenever I depress the brake at a certain point, a grinding sound comes out. Like something is rubbing against the brake pads. But it's not there if I brake any harder or less. It's like midway light footed. It almost sounds like my rotors are warped and it's rubbing against it. Could it be anything serious? I just got new brake pads this summer.
 
if you consider potentially getting into an accident serious.... seriously tho, it's probably either in the pads or the rotors, and peeking around behind the tire is your best bet.

check the basics first....

Pads: pull off the tire, check the condition of the pads. make sure they have plenty of meat left on them. make sure they're wearing evenly.

Rotor: put car in neutral and spin the brake disk, watching the pads to see if they move or feel if the disk gets sticky or harder to turn at a certain point.

also take a dial caliper to the brake disk and replace the rotor if it's under a certain thickness.

look out for scoring or gouging on the disk itself to clue you into problems. if there's scoring or gouging, have the rotors turned if the rotor is thick enough.
 
Disassemble, Clean, and re-lubricate. Make sure you clean the shims that the pads ride on and lightly grease them. Do the same to your Caliper pins. Only if your sure your parts are in good working order but this is a standard on brake jobs.

Otherwise vibration during high speed braking- wrapped rotors more then likely the cause.
