I bought a 92 GSX back in January and I have been fixing problems the previous owner created ever since. I think I found another problem. My oil dipstick has recently started to pop out. I went to check the PCV valve to see if it was working properly and I noticed that the pcv line from the pcv valve was connected to what appears to be the purge control valve underneath the battery. Should the pcv line be connected to the intake manifold instead? There is a vacuum port on the manifold that is capped off about 3 to 4 inches away from the pcv valve, is that where the line should be connected to? If it is where does the large hose from the purge control valve connect to? Thanks for any help...........

The vacuum line from the PCV valve should be connected to a nipple on the intake manifold that is (as you stated) about a few inches away. It sticks straight up.

Take a look at this tech article. I think where it's connected to is the charcoal canister. Which nipple is it attached to though? http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211982

I don't get why the previous owner did that? I would defintely reroute it back to the intake manifold. I don't think it's street legal as well to do that.

Thanks for the info on connecting to the manifold. It does't make sense that it would be connected to the purge control valve. I still need to know where the purge control line connects to. The photograph in reply #3 from snowborder714 shows the purge valve on the front of the cannister but the 2 nipples on the right side of the valve are covered by a wiring harness. The small nipple connects to a throttle body vacuum port. The larger nipple is where my pcv line was connected to. Does this larger nipple connect to something or does it just vent to the atmoshere. The repair manual I have doesn't show if it is connected to something. Thanks........
