Ok, I've had several posts about dropping a 6 bolt in my 93 tsi. After a little pricing I have decided maybe I should look at my motor. To recap, all my problems occured after pulling my wastegate line. After a 20+ psi spike when I slammed 2nd gear I developed a massive amount of smoke behind the car. I brought the car right back to the house and did a comp test. From pass to driver: 180,180,180,120. Less than a month before all cylinders read 180. While pulling the downpipe I noticed a massive amount of wet oil. Could I have a blown head gasket and possibly another blown turbo seal? When I pull the head do I have to pull the cams out of the head before I remove the timing belt to avoid them turning. I wouldn't think this could result in a damaged valve. Also what would cause the seal to go out of a brand new turbo instantly. I will pull the head off tomorrow to check. If I have assumed correctly I will take and have the head cleaned up. Any advice?

What color was the smoke that came out of the exhaust? It sounds like a headgasket. How is your coolant level?

No you do NOT pull the cams before removing the timing belt. Remember, the timing belt is under tension and doing this would either 1) warp the head where the cams sit or 2) fling the cams up at you. Take the belt off first, the exhaust cam should be the only one that will move, and it will only move half a tooth to two teeth.

Wow, what the h*ll were you thinking. You PULLED the wastegate line?!?!

Ya, you f*cked something up. You sure as h*ll could have blown the seals on a number of things. You ran the car lean by doing this and you got what you asked for. That was just d-.... What were you thinking?!?!

Well, take the car to a mechanic, because you OBVIOUSLY have no clue what you are doing. Tell them to do a leak down test.

i have a 1g that needs a new headgasket as well
what would be the best way to replace this.
i just bought this 1g and havent done headgasket on one yet.
any special supplies etc...so i dont have to mak alot of trips

Ok now that we've established I'm a moronic idiot who has no business under the hood of a power wheels, lets get back to my car. I pulled the head. I found no signs of a blown head gasket or cracked head on the cylinder w/ low compression. I did however notice that my o2 housing was saturated in wet oil. Then I looked at the exhaust ports and noticed that the ex. port next to my suspect cylinder had wet oil in it. All others were dry. So to recap the cylinder at the driver side of the car has 120 compression and the one next to it has wet oil in the exhaust port. My brand new turbo has 0 shaft play and both the comp. and ex. wheels look good so I think my turbo may be ok. So what the hell is going on?

Ok I just noticed I have failed to mention that I pulled the motor/trans about 2 weeks ago so everything is out on the floor.
