this is what i did last weekend , i checked the timing marks they are all good but I noticed that the timing belt was loose on the idler pully side(the brown one ) so when i check the marks i adjusted the blue pulley making the belt tight ! i let it sit for 2 days not starting the engine to see if the belt gets loose , the days passed i check the tention , it was good well i say #### it am gooing to turn it on so i turn it on !!! it ran all good let it run for like five minutes then i turn it off i let it sit and the timing belt was getting loouse !!
is that the tensioner being stupid?????

can i get some advise

yes, replace your tentioner, get the oem mitsu one from jnztuning.com, thats where i get mine. if you havent redo all your timing components

If you feel like driving, just go up to RRE. Its like an hour and a half drive. They are pretty helpful. If you go there explaining your problem, they will tell you or show you what to do.

No big deal. I have done many timing belt jobs with it in the car. What you need though, is some long handle - 90 degree needle nose pliers. Go to a home depot or something like that to get them. Make sure that the tensioner is fully compressed with either a small allen wrench or a strong pin in place. I usually get a small allen wrench that can fit in the slots, then once everything is tightened down and I gave it 3 full cranks(by hand), I pull the pin and its set. You will need a 12mm and a 14mm wrench to tighten down the pulleys and the tensioner. This is kinda frustrating to do but, you will get used to it over time. Make sure to line everything up correctly when you do it.

Line up the crank marks and check that the dowel pins are at 12 o'clock and line up the timing marks on the cams, them tighten the tensioner pulley.

One trick I do for setting the tensioner pulley is - get the needle nose pliers and try to set
them in the holes in the pulley. Rotate it clockwise and try to get the two slots of the pulley near 10 or 11 o'clock. If you have a hard time, just use one of the prongs from the pliers to go into the left slot (of the tensioner pulley) and push up. Once you get it where there is very hard to push any further then, tighten down the bolt with the 14mm wrench. Then, check your timing marks, rotate the crank so the sames make 3 full revolutions, check the marks again and if it lines up right - pull the tensioner pin.

I've read through almost all these pages and haven't found the answer I'm looking for. I understand that it's gonna slack up a bit.

My question is since I have BC 280 cams will it be more than stock cams? I had re timed the belt multiple times after I realized it was loose and made sure that it was f'ing tight the last time because I was tired of messing with it.

If it sits for a day or two it only slacks up a little but if I let it sit for a week it has an inch if of play to where if I really pulled on it I could probably get it off the gears. Turn it over back to normal. Only thing I can think of for it loosening that much is the cams I have in it.

Any thoughts on this or does anyone else with large cams notice it get that extremely loose? Tensioner's brand new.

Cams have nothing to do with how loose or how tight the belt tension is. Check the gap on your auto tensioner to see if it's within spec. When you tighten the tensioner pulley (blue tensioner), the two holes should be parallel to the ground. That's how you know you have the correct tension on the auto tensioner.

Already checked it and its looks fine after it had run. Never actually checked it when it sat thou. Ill check it again after the shootout. This is becoming a real pita.

So, what is the condition of your timing belt and tensioner? Are they old/new? Is it easy to push the plunger into the hydrolic tensioner or do you need a clamp? Your cams have nothing to do with this like what Mike said. Parts can crap out over time and you may need to replace something.
