When I slip this 4" to 2" home depot coupler to the maf, the idle becomes erratic. The rpms increase then decrease, sometimes dropping way below 750, and sometimes stalling out. When I reattached the cone filter to the maf, idle returns to normal. I've checked for boost leaks and fixed one at the biss screw. Any ideas? Bad maf? Dirty maf?

This is for a cold air intake project, FYI.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (to reset your ECU) install that pipe, connect your battery, then drive around town for about 15 minutes. If the engine tries to stall when you drive around, just give it some gas to prevent it from stalling. After about 15-20 minutes of driving, it should fix the problem.

^ Didn't work. Going back to the cone filter. Thanks anyways.

Edit: Anyone have similar problems? I don't understand how the car's idle is drastically changing with the coupler and cold air plumbing.

Two to four inches? That's a pretty big bottleneck before the maf. Do you think that maybe you were slow down the velocity of the air so much as to mess with the Karman reading?

I was going to suggest a bigger pipe if what I suggested didn't work, but glad to hear you got rid of the problem.

Semi decent setup pictures in my gallery. Used duck tape to 'widen' the 3" pipe end to fit the 4" coupler and cone filter. Ghetto but effective. This project would of been easier if I had short route IC piping. The upper IC had clearance issues with the CAI pipe. Thanks again ya all.
