I have a 1G Talon with a big 16G @ 18lbs of boost. It has the supporting mods to run that much boost ie. walboro 255, SAFC, FMIC! So the other morning, I started my car and let the oil circulate for about a minute before moving it. When I put it in gear and let the clutch out, it made a weird noise, not like a bang or anything, and then it started sounding like a lobing noise when it's idleing. I turned it off immediately. I just replaced the timing belt with a kevelar one and also replaced the alternator belt. I also replaced the spark plugs because they might have fouled out or something. I have all the timing mechanicaly lined up at TDC on everything. I started it up and it is still making a lobing noise or like it is kinda missing or not getting enough spark to 1 or more of the cylanders. I'm not sure what all it could be, plug wires, distributor, clogged injector, I DUNNO! Any help guys in fixing a broke DSM:cry: !

^^Wow, that was helpful......

A clip would help.... Ive heard several types of "lobing"

One was because of a bad tranny...or missing...or bad rod bearing....

Its hard to say.

Id check your timing though since that seems to be the only thing you changed...

I will try and get some sort of sound clip later 2day, it is very loud and predominate through the exhaust.

how consistant is the noise.
is the noise with the crankshaft rotation speed or with the camshaft rotation speed.
start it and pull the oil cap off at idle, and look at the lobes for a refernce point.
when the lobe comes up and noise occurs, its with the camshaft, and vice versa, hope this helps

The noise happens about every half second. I checked all 4 plug wires for spark and everything looked good, I had a spark off every wire!

Ok...I finally had some time to work on my car! I had spark in all 4 but I was only running on 3 cylanders, hmmmm. I switched out my ECU and started it up and still no change. I had perfect compression in 3 cylanders but my 4th had none. I narrowed it down to #4 and double checked spark, OK. Then I pulled the injector out and started it and guess what.......NO FUEL! Well go figure my injector resistor went bad and I had no fuel in #4....Switched out the resistor and runs like a chanp. Thanks for the help guys!
