I cant seem to find where my coolant is going i did the leak down test and it checked out checked the oil and thats an clear as the day i put it in and there is absolutly no smoke. My question is is it possible to have a bad head gasket with out the symtoms besides coolant loss... i just did the water pump ### it was leaking from that when i got it, all the heater lines and turco lines nothing im completly stumped

Thanks In Advance

well ill fill it up and drive it and ill have heat and normal temp but when i let it sit over night and start it up ill have no heat and the temp raises rapidly so i stopped to check it and it was empty. im going to check the heater core tonight to make sure its not leaking thru that

after filling the whole system and driving it until it's hot pull over and check the coolant resevoir again(while it's still hot) if it's completely full to the point that it's pushing coolant out the overflow, then there's a good chance that you do indeed have a blown head gasket...mine did this to me, it wasn't able to push the coolant through the block, but it could sure fill that overflow in a hurry...if it's running itself to completely out of coolant then you can't check the coolant for oil, but you could pull the thermostat out and check the bottom of it for signs of oil, as it will stick to it...

also, my car wasn't smoking at all, and it did have a fair sized hole in the head gasket when I pulled it off...so you don't need to be blowing white smoke to blow a head gasket...supra's just have a flare for the dramatic when they blow head gaskets

I see.. well i wish there was a way too check cause im really not looking forward to ripping the head off especially if theres a chance its not blown. i suppose ill just have to buck up and do it any way
thanks alot

One common source of a water pump leak is the o-ring not installed properly. You must replace the o-ring in the crossover inlet pipe by putting it on the pipe end first, coating with coolant, and then insert pipe with o-ring into water pump – do not put the o-ring into water pump first as it will not seat properly and will leak.

If not that rent or buy a cooling system pressure tester (pump with pressure gauge that attaches where the radiator cap is. Pump it up and you'll see where it leaks.

Now thats another thing i assumed just cause i had just put one in and its dry as a whisle... i'm completly stumped.
