I just pulled the head off of my 91 6 bolt gsx. Examining the valves I found that one side was coated black with soot, while the other was caked white. One of the valves on cyl. 3 also had a decent sized chip out of it. The others looked relatively seated, however when looking down then intake runners I could see light through the gaps in which they are supposed to be seated. Does anyone have any insight as to the best course of action for me to take? Simply replace the valves? Replace them with aftermarket valves? A new head? Thanks.

if both cams are sitting where they should be at tdc and you can still see light through the valves what i would do is have a valve job done and maybe get some oversized valves. Might as well if you have it all taken apart.
