I have a 96 talon tsi and it started to act funny..out of no where when driving the lights went dim. and the turbo timer said 10.5 volts instead of the usual 14.3..so I drove the car home, shut it off, the lights would not turn off the windows wouldn't go up. Got the lights off after whiles, then the car would start but have low volts and the windows still wouldnt go up, go a new batt. and windows went up but still runs low volts with everything dim at 11 volts, what could be wrong? the car started and runs but wont hold enough volts? could it be the alt.? started? cables? The alt. is alreayd about a year old.. let me know thanks!

i agree, get your alternator checked out 1st. while its off, check your ALT pulley and make sure its not damaged and it spins rather easy. reset your ecu while your at it.

check your alternator....get a voltmeter and check the voltage at the battery before and after turning the car on. Without the car on you should have 12 volts when the car is running you should have around 14. Also check to see if the alternator belt is slipping causing the altenator not to generate the voltage. Check all fuses and grounds. Autozone should check your charging system for free.
