i have a 1991 eagle talon tsi that i bought and it has a 3" gm maf and translator and an safc with an 18g and 680s i do not know how to make it run right if the boost is set at 15 and i get somewhere around 5500 rpms it just cuts and throws me forward then kicks back in and out im new to this i just need some help is there any place that can show me how to adjust the maf and safc to make this work and what switches need to be up or down i have tried searching but everything i try is does not work i do not wanna screw the car up. Anything would be great thanks

Sounds like you need to read the manual, familiarize yourself with the tuning solutions installed, or find a local tuning shop.
The 'throwing back and forth' is fuel cut. One of your tuning solutions (but NOT both) should be set up to compensate for your larger injectors. I'd recommend letting the MAF-T compensate for the injector size, and tuning the rest off the SAFC.

To get a correct tune, you'll need a logger and/or wideband O2 setup. For a rough setup, read the MAF-T and SAFC instruction manuals (available via Googlesearching) and learn what each does and how to control it. Again, I'd recommend zeroing the SAFC and using that for fine tuning control, and setting up the MAF-T to compensate for the larger injectors.

Make sure that it's boosting to 15 on the aftermarket gauge, by the way. The stock in-dash gauge (part of the tach) is just an ECU guesstimation, and usually lies horribly. If that thing is going past the 14 mark, you may be frighteningly overboosting.
On a side note, for the obvious... only run high-octane fuel. CA only gets 91 craptane, but if you can get 92-94, only use that. It'll help cut down on knock and make tuning much easier, once you get to that stage.

Welcome to DSMs... time to learn. This isn't going to be a turn-key-and-go kind of thing, but the rewards are worth the time you'll be putting in to learn how to tune your car.

ya i wanna learn but im not an idiot i have had plenty of cars this is just new to me i just need a little help i have tried everything u have said i have an aftermarket boost gauge along with an egt and it gets hot real fast im trying to find my injector size out now i have et to where it wont fuel cut until about 6000 is that bad i know i can fine tune it with the safc im just trying to get the maf setup and i dont not know anything about it that is why i asked for help. The boost gauge does read 15 on the dot but if i want to run a little more like 18 or 19 it just fuel cuts no matter what i do that is why i was asking. I got the car untuned or touched so i just need some help thanks for the input.

I seem to have the best luck zeroing out my maft box and just using the safc2. I would start at -10% fuel all thw way across the board and do dome tuning with the wideband from there getting all your different settings dialed in to the afr you want to run.

Agreed. I would tune stickly with the safc2 if it were me. See if you can't pick up a cheap logger somewhere.

You know.....you could always check out DSMlink too :D

well the car does have a palm pilot in it all wired up but there is no program on it anymore otherwise it would be perfect i think that is what was used before to tune the car i just dont know where to get a program for it so i can do a pull and see where iam at.

You can also load Palm 'n Stein onto the palm, and not shell out for Pocketlogger. Overpriced for what you get, compared to the freeware tunerstein/palm n' stein.
