Today I was driving my 95 GSX to work and I noticed after about 8 miles that it was running really hot. It's only heating up when I have it in gear and have my foot on the gas. It cools right back down when I let it idle or put it in nuetral and coast. No unusual sounds. Any help?

Does it have a front mount? What fans are on there ? How is the thermostat ( chuck it in some boiling water to see if it opens ) .

Might be time for a coolant flush. Using distilled water with coolant from the supermarket helps.

Do you have the plastic ducts that direct air to your radiator in place?

And what do you mean when you say your thermostat is "readig" fine? Your temp sensor is reading high temps, your thermostat might be bad. With your car cool, open your radiator cap, turn on your car, and watch to see when your coolant cycles. Preferably do this with a logger to see the exact temp. This is how you determine the temperature where your thermostat opens and if it is functioning well or not. Have a rag handy to catch the bit of coolant that will rise out of the cap.

Figured as much... Just happened today, worked tell 10... I thought that, my first DSM... So I figured wouldn't hurt to ask... I think nothings wrong with that...

Had a problem with mine doing the same thing. Come to find out I had a busted water jacket on my head gasket and it would only get hot while drivinf because on a compression stroke it pushes pressure into the cooling system via the water jacket. Retighten the head back down and see if its still does it...Holla at me if ya need anything
