I jacked the car up and had it on jack stands while I was working on the brakes. I left it on the stands overnight with the tires off the car and the next day I had a Tranny fluid leak. I could not see exactly were it was coming from, but it looked like from the driver side transaxle. So I finished the brakes and when I put the passanger side tire on and let the car down the leak stopped, I put the driver side tire back on and have not seen a leak in an hour now. the leak was a drip every 5 seconds now nothing. Should I be concerned? I did a search for this problem but found nothing. Also, a really dumb question. The owners manual says to check the tranny fluid with the tranny in nuetral, my Haynes repair manual says to check it in park. I am going by the owners manual. Thanks

Im not sure what to make of the leak situation. Keep an eye on your fluid level for awhile. When you check your car, follow the directions and all of that about shifting it up and down so it goes through each of the gears. Then when you want to check it, you can put it in park or if it makes you feel better, put it in neutral and pull the ebrake.

Its possible your seal for that axle is bad. It may need to be replaced. Perhaps the incline of the car being jacked up allows it to flow through but when sitting level, it doesnt, like tipping a glass. The seal itself is cheap, about $4 from Mitsu if I remember correctly. It would require removing the axle to replace it and though its not hard to replace, it can be messed up quite easy.
