Here is the deal, I just got my six bolt stroker swap running and I have a few bugs to work out. I have never had a 2g before and I bought the car broken down so I have never driven it either. Here are my two problems

1. My power steering is just fine as long as I am already in a turn. As soon as I move the steering wheel back to top center and over to the other side, I hit a dead spot of roughly 1/10 of a turn of the steering wheel. I am pretty sure I need to replace the rack but I just had a thought that it could be that I have a external power steering fluid cooler. It is the smallest oil cooler I could buy from Auto Zone. I thought perhaps that could be restricting the fluid but I am almost positive it is the rack, any input is appreciated.

2. My brake pedal the first time i push it will go 3/4 to the floor before it gets firm. If I pump the brake again it will go a little less than half way down and get firm. If I pump it a 3rd time it will be firm immediately. I am almost positive its the master cylinder but I also thought that perhaps it could be air in the lines but I bled the crap out of them after the engine install.

Thanks guys.

For the power steering issue: I took a look at the fluid level and it was low. Perhaps some air worked its way out of the cooler. Anyways I added fluid and I believe the problem has been resolved. It seems to be much better now.

As for my brakes??

Id gravity bleed the brakes. I bled mine after the non abs conversion and even with my $150 dollar Mighty Vac I couldnt get the brakes to my liking. So I gravity bled them and they are very stiff now. I just popped the cap off the resevoir, loosened all the bleeders and watched them run onto the road, then after like 5 mins or so I tightened them back. Once they got to where I liked them I stopped.

I just realized something when you said ABS. My abs sensors on the front two wheels are busted and the wires are gone. The previous owner cut them out for some reason. Could that also be adding to the problem of why my car tends to drag to the right ever time I first hit the brakes?

I figured out the break pedal problem. HOLY SHIT!!! I was driving to have lunch with my dad and i had a really loud clunking noise coming from my problem wheel. And as the clunking noise got louder, my break pedal had to be pressed down even further than ever. Well I got there and then looked at the wheel. 2 of the lug nuts were at least halfway backed out!! And The other three were very loose! I am super lucky my wheel didn't fly off. Cause damn man, the wheel was that loose. I have since then tightened up my wheel, and the the vibration in my steering wheel is gone. The brake pedal is firm and great. The clunking is gone as well. So all my problems with this area are gone. Good grief!! haha
