A1000 Fuel Pump? Need Facts Here

I am finishing upgrading my fuel system right now and trying to work out some fuel pump difficulties. Upgrading my 50 trim to a gt35r setup and before I get the new turbo bolted on I want to finish up the fuel system first. So far, AEM rail, 850s, Aeromotive Red/Black reg. and I have been running the 255 pump. I was told by SBR that the 255 won't keep up with the turbo at the top end and since the supra pump is only 5lph more I don't see that as a solution. So I purchased an A1000 pump from Aeromotive under the impression I could run it in conjunction with the 255 (just splice it into the line) and simply upgrade the lines to -8 all the way around. However, a speed shop today informed me that this can't be done b/c the pump will burn out and the only way to handle it is to yank the 255, buy a pickup for the fuel tank or fabricate one and run all new lines. Seems like overkill to me...this is a daily driver and they started talking about fuel cells so thought I would get some second and third opinions. Any help or shared setups would help. Thanx

Feeding it with the Walbro is probably your best bet, I know a couple people that have done it that way with no issues.
 
I see your point about it being more then 5lph, I had forgotten about RRE's site, thanx for the info.

Everything I have read so far says the 255's aren't enough for anymore then about 500hp and the aim of this turbo upgrade is somewhere is the low 600 range. Would the supra pump flow enough for, just to be on the safe side, 650hp assuming I upgrade to -8 lines for the feed and return? I obviously rather error on the safe side then lean out on the dyno but I'm trying to avoid extreme overkill too. Popping my trunk to fill a fuel cell at the pump a couple times a week might be entertaining to others at the gas station but kinda annoying for me LOL.

What about dual 255's?
 
thanks for the information, it looks very promising and more cost effective then the A1000, but I guess I'm still confused about something here...

According to JR, the 044 is an inline pump too (it can be made to be in tank with modifications according to the site) meaning that I would need to fabricate a pick up for it as well.

From what I have been told, and correct me if I am wrong, putting a higher flowing pump like the A1000 or 044 in the line and thus in series with the 255 in the tank will burn out the in line pump. Since the in tank pump can only provide so much fuel to the A1000/044, and most likely alot less then it wants to flow, it will burn out the bigger pump or create pockets of lower pressure in the fuel flow.

My impression has been that any in line pump is going to require a custom pickup and can not be run with an in tank pump flowing less then it...is this wrong? Thanks in advance

I've never done it so I can't say for sure. But there a guys on this site that have ran the A1000 or the Bosch pump with a 255 feeding it, and they haven't had any problems.
