The car is a 1992 5 speed Non turbo. Ok, this is my cars diagnosis. It won't start, however, it will crankover wanting to start up. So its not the battery or the charging system persay. Now, I found that there is a missing part from the engine bay (I will address this a little later). I read/researched a couple hours in my haynes manual and came across a part called the Electronic Fuel Injection Control Relay. I tried looking it up online, but I could not find it anywhere. Does this part go by another name? As for the missing part in the engine, it is mounted to the firewall and it appears that there was a harness connected to it (which is sort of damaged). I think its a Fuel Pressure Regulator. Anyways here is a picture of whats missing. Thanks any help is appreciated.

Your Electronic Fuel Injection Control Relay is called the MPI (multiport injection) control relay. It provides power to the ECU (engine control unit or engine computer), all engine sensors, and injectors.
Your circled area looks like where the evaporative emission purge solenoid and EGR solenoid are.
 
Thanks, I found a couple topics on the MPI relay and it seems that its either that or the ECU thats having trouble. Should I replace both just to be on the safe side or should I just go ahead and replace the MPI relay first and see if thats the fix. Thanks for your help, always appreciated.

P.s. Oh yeah do you know where I could possibly find one of those EGR Solenoids at?
 
Only the Calif. cars had the relay and all related EGR plumbing. if it's a 49 state unit they used a different system. As for the plug DSM used one harness so they just left it unused.

As for the MPI if it is clicking as the engine stalls and recovers it is working. odds are the ECU caps are on the way out if not DEAD.

It cranks but it doesnt start, and its clicking at the same time. I disconnected the positive battery cable so it wouldn't run out the battery or anything. Would that still constitute that its the caps on the ECU?

ECU's are expensive. If you can try swapping with someone's first that is best. If not, open it up and look for leaking caoacitors:

If it smells like rotten eggs or you see leaking caps, it definately has a problem.
The are many companies that fix ECU's as well as the Tuner Steve.

To see if the MPI relay is working you can see if +12V is at the injectors or O2 sensor heater (red wire) with key on.
 
Thanks luv2rallye and tqmx1 for your insight, I feel alot more confident and informed about the problem. I'm gonna head out first thing tommorow and check out the ECM to see how bad it is. I'll try and post pics of what I see if I can get my phone to start working but, we'll see. Thanks again guys.

Well, I removed the ECM today and that has to be it. I didn't see anything strange at all but the smell was unbareable. I'm gonna search through the classifieds for a use ECM. And again thanks for your help guys.
