So I'm having a slight problem. We just had a giant snow storm, and I think the snow might of shorted some wires out or something.

The door ajar light came on today when I got in my car, now this never happens because the spot where that little rubber guy is, is rusted out, and there is no little rubber guy. So therefore it ALWAYS thinks my car door is closed. I opened the passenger and closed it and that didn't do anything.

There are two wires that I can pull out (green and yellow?) but when I touch them together I get nothing, when I pull them apart I get nothing. It also looks like there is a thing I can pull off (plastic piece that connects everything) but I couldn't get it to be undone. What is my problem? Where is the short? Is it a short?

Suggestions?

I've been having a similar problem with my 94. Found out it was the little sensor-thing on the passenger door jamb. The little rod that pushes in to signify the door is closed was snapped. I pulled off the little rubber boot, and unscrewed the piece under it. Took whatever out, realized I didn't have anything to replace it with... screwed it back in... may have jammed the spring or whatever down... and haven't had problems since.

Also the first time the light came on, my response was "No It's F*cking Not!"

....how's that for technical. LOL

But how do I fix it temporarily. I don't want to have to open my trunk every time I want to turn off/on my car...

(battery is in trunk)(i have to disconnect it so that it doesn't die)

Just turn off the interior lights, it's the button on the ceiling center console. The door open light on the dash shouldn't be enough to drain your battery by itself.

The door ajar circuit works by supplying ground onto the two wires to signal the door is open. When the pin extends, it has little metal prong contacts that touch the metal frame and complete the circuit to ground through the frames contact to the body (ground)

The connector can be rather recalcitrant. If you work at it a bit, you should be able to disconnect it.

With the connector dissconnected, you *should* be good to go.

When you remove the screw, and then the plate, and isolate it from the body, it should turn the light off. The next time you key the car up, the seat belt should move to the closed position, and stay there.

If it's still saying door ajar, you may have a short to ground on one of the wires inside the body

I had a turbo k-car that had the voice activated system. It was really irratating. The unibody/frame would flex during spirited driving, and that little voice would pop up at the apex of of hard left handers.

My passengers would freak....ROFL

Just an update. IT wasn't the driver side, it was the passenger side. The thing had rusted through like the driver side, so bleh!
