my 1990 talon tsi will not start. The MPI fuse directly off the battery keeps popping. I noticed that on the number 2 injector clip the plastic surround was completly worn on the wires, and figured they were touching. So i took an injector clip off of my 2g (blown motor) and wired it in thinking that was the problem, turned the key on and the fuse popped again. So now i am confused and cant seem to find my wiring gremlin.

I had an afc on the car at one time, but not installed right now (had it in my 2g) and just used a piece of wire to reconnect the airflow signal wire to the ecu, could this be my issue?

Basically i am looking for some ideas on where to start looking as i need to get this car running to use as a daily driver.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

pull the plugs out of the mpi relay in the center console by the ecu. Mine was doing the same thing. I checked the wiring the schematic to see what all it went to and just started unplugging components. when i unplugged the mpi relay and turned on the key the fuse didn't pop, so i plugged it back in and POP! so i disconnected the pigtail going to the fuel pump in the back thinking that my rewire got screwed up somehow, turned on the key and it still popped. swapped the mpi relay with my buddy's and it didn't pop. put mine in his car and we popped his mpi fuse. went to the old pick-n-pull and snagged another one. Hope you get it straightened out.

ya i put a test light on my mpi fuse turned the key and the relay started going nuts. So i am checking that today and see.
