Well some bastard broke into my car recently and stole my deck and my apexi s-afc. I bought the car with the SAFC already installed. After the incident i noticed that my check engine light was on and my throttle response is bad. Could this be because of the safc and with a new one make it work fine again?

The car won't run right without the AFC now. This is because when you install the AFC you have to cut the factory ECU harness and loop the MAF signal wires through the AFC. Without the AFC in place your ECU isn't getting a MAF signal and the CEL is being thrown. A new AFC will cure this problem or you could just hook the wires back up on the harness. I'm just curious here but when they stole the AFC did they take the entire harness? My friends got stolen once and the idiots didn't even take the other half of the harness. They just unplugged it and left the other half still hooked into the factory harness. All he had to do was find another AFC (same model) and just plug it back in.

HAHAHA idiots...well yeah these guys took the harness and all :( but im pretty sure they didn't know what the hell it was but took the AFC and harness anyways...

thanks i guess its time for a new SAFC...

Well there are two parts to the harness. One on the SAFC side and one on the ECU side. If they took both harness's chances are they knew what it was. You can still fix the car without buying a new SAFC. If they didn't mess up your factory ECU harness and it was installed right in the first place you can simply re-connect the MAF signal wires. The CEL should go away and the sputtering should stop. When you install an SAFC you only need to cut one wire (MAF signal) and tap into a few others so if it was installed properly it should be an easy fix to get you around until you get a new one. Good luck.
