Just finished dropping the motor back in the car.

The battery light is on.

The Speedometer moves to 40mph, then is stays there until I turn the key to the off switch.

Battery voltage is good. 12.6)

The starter works, I've checked it.

car will not crank.

The fact that you are having all of these other electronic issues makes me think that you have something plugged in incorrectly. Double check where your speedometer sensor is plugged in and post the wire colors going into that sensor. That will tell us if you have the wrong sensor plugged in here.

Can you spin the crank with a 1/2'' wratchet on the vibration dampener? Clockwise of course

Yes, the car tuns over when I apply volatge to the trigger wire on the solenoid.

The starter turns the engine.

However the engine won't turn via the ignition. The car isn't suppling volatge to the solenoid

The speedometer sensor has a black yellow and a black wire wih a white line going through it.

I don't believe I plugged in the wrong connector. even If I did, I'm pretty sure the car would turn over.

i think the speedometer problem I a short somewhere. Maybe a grounding problem.

Are you positive that you were looking at the speedometer sensor wiring located almost under the battery tray on the back side of the tranny? This sensor should have three wires on it.
