Hatch Rattle

I ran a search but found nothing, so hopefully someone will see this and have an answer!?

I just got the car back from a motor swap (6 bolt from my old car into my "new" 92.) With the prothane motor mounts the car vibrates - go figure. BUT - the hatch rattles REALLY bad. We're talking LOUD.

If you put pressure on the top center peice or the spoiler it goes away.

I know the hatch struts are on their way out but I have a new set to install. Any other suggestions as to what might be loose and causing this?

my rear spoiler does that also, need to take off cover under hatch and see whats there to tighten up.

mine is actually pretty loose.

was wondering about those kinda mounts, did you put in 4 new ones or just 2, being front and rear?

My friends 1g has been doing the same thing. Yesterday we took off the panel on the hatch itself and tightened the bolts for the spoiler down and now, no rattle.

If it's the actualy hatch bouncing up and down check you weather stripping. This happened to me and it turns out my weather stripping was torn and squished down. I went to a junkyard and found one in perfect shape, when i put it on there were no more rattles.

Its the hatch hinges ftw!
