Any Other Speedometer..### help

okay heres the dilema new engine...trans...clutch..everything under hood brand new....car runs perect..well my speedometer goes dead on the freeway take it to the shop the guy tells me everything electrical is fine so it must be the gear inside the transmission...i dont know nothing about the gear inside of a trans..so i dont want no1 else to mess with nething involving the engine or trans...so is there any other way to get a speed reading?

Check the 3 pin connector on the vehicle speed sensor on the tranny. It often is loose or not fitting snuggly (could be not making contact with vibration). If you care to remove it, there is a test for it. Does it never work above some speed?
Another way to get speed reading: If you have a tach you can get a pretty good idea of your speed based on it's reading and gear you're in.
