Clutch acting a bit different

When the car is cold, it doesn't like to be put in first while moving. I mean, clutch to the floor, won't go into first. Is that normal?

Also, it revs slightly when the clutch is pushed down between shifts. It only happens on upshifts, and not between first and second (just second to third, third to fourth, fourth to fifth). It doesn't rev too much, but you can feel it through the pedal, and hear it if you listen for it. I have tried placing my foot on the floor, then placing my foot on the pedal, then pushing the clutch in, then shifting, then clutch out, then gas again, and it still happened.

Just wondering what you guys might think it is. Thanks in advance.

sounds like you need to change your tranny fluid, and find the leak in your hydraulic system. i.e. your clutch master or slave cylinder

How do I check the tranny fluid?

Also, we just bled the clutch about 600 miles ago (100 miles since rebuild), and there were no problems/leaks then. Then again, perhaps one started.

Thanks for suggesting somethin other than the worst case scenario (crank walk), which didn't seem right to me, because it has no other signs, just that slight rev.

I was wondering, could it be something with the plate in the throttle body? (Is that called the throttle plate?) This only happens in boost, so I was wondering if it was staying open some for some reason. Thoughts on that?

I would check the slack in the throttle cable by flooring the pedal and using some type of prop to hold it open with the motor off. Check to see if it the butterfly opens all the way. You can also manually move the throttle spring and see if it binds anywhere.

A final check is to make sure that you have a bit of slack in your cable with the throttle plate fully closed. If it seems tight this will cause RPM's to rise since the cable expands slightly with engine heat. As long as you have full tension at WOT, it doesn't need to have zero slack at zero throttle. It needs just a wee bit of play. Adjust the slack using the two bolts on top of the intake manifold (towards the back) where the throttle cable passes through.

About your clutch issue, I find that perfectly normal. I can't shift into 1st unless the car is almost completely stopped. I never considered this a problem and if the gear engages properly with the car stopped I don't think you have a problem in the least. As an example when I pull into my driveway. I have to stop the car to clutch it into first and my pedal/hydraulics work properly. It's like a gear lockout.

Keep us posted and good luck,

Andy
