Hello, im having a bit of trouble with my new engine. I bought a rebuilt longblock from Kar King and they did a good job on it, but here i am cranking it over w/o plugs and no fuel to prime up with oil before start up, and its not getting any oil. I even pulled the oil filter bracket off and not one drop of oil is present.
I dont know what to do now, perhaps the starter cant crank it fast enough to pull up oil? Yes i installed the pick up tube. Im at a loss and am afraid to start the car so if anyone has any insight it would be appreciated greatly. I have searched and read that some people use a drill on the oil pump sprocket before timing belt install, but my motor came timed already and i didnt want to mess with it. Ive also cranked the thing over quite a bit and it seems to me that it should have had oil by now!! Please help me out as ive been w/o my dsm for months now and want it back. Thx, Charles

If check the pickup tube to make sure it is completely covered. Also make sure that it isn't loose or cracked so air can get in. Next use the method above and spray some lithium grease into the pickup and the pump to help get the suction going. Until you get some kin dof oil into that pump don't start the motor. The starter should spin it fast enough to prime the pump.
