Hey guys, I need some help. I have a 91 Talon Tsi AWD and I just recently had to replace the ECU due to leaky caps. Now before I had the ECU problem I was running a little rich and wasn't smoking hardly at all except for when I was changing gears real hard. Well After I replaced the ECU (I put in a 94 Eprom) the car was smoking pretty bad. So I went today and topped off all the fluids and changed the oil, it looked like there was about 2 quarts of oil that drained and that's it, so I know oil was being burned. Not to mention the black stain on my rear bumper for my exhaust. Well now after I changed the oil, it is burning almost constantly now, more so when I hit the gas. I pulled off the hose from the turbo to the IC and there was a little bit of oil in it. Am I gonna have to rip this engine apart and replace all the seals?? :(

No you are just going to need a new turbo. Oil in the IC piping usually means the seals in the turbo are leaking. Like stated take the intake off and check the turbo for shaftplay.

you're the victim of bad timing. changing your ecu and then starting to burn oil are unrelated incidents that you were just lucky enough to have happen at the same time. let us know what you've got after you check your turbo.

Did you check the ecu you put in for bad caps/components, is it for the same injectors/etc?
Oil in the IC pipe could just be the pcv valve..
Have you done a compression and leak down tests?
Are there oil tracts in your exhaust manifold? or 02 Housing?

yea, the turbo has alot of up and down play and rubs the housing....time for a new turbo...:(
