autometer and I don't get along

First off my autometer water temp guage reads lower then it should. It will read a little bit lower then 130-150 for normal driving, and when it gets close to overheating it will read 180. My pocket logger obviously reads differently and I know it is higher then that. Next is my egt guage. It works when it wants to basically. When it does decide to work the needle will bounce around then settle and bounce around again then settle.

Anybody else have similar problems? How is autometer with returns/refunds? I guess I get what I pay for but 200+ dollars for a Defi guage is a little too much for me.
 
I wrote autometer months back and explained to them how my boost gauge didnt settle at 0 when the car was shut off and how that effects the readings is see and the reading the car is actually giving.

They responded with in 24 hours and told me to send the gauge to their location....I had a brand new gauge with in a week and half with the full install kit and everything that comes along too. Heres what I wrote...

Hello, my name is Matt and I currenty own and run 3 or your Ultra-Lite series Gauges. They are Boost/Vac (30-30), Oil Pressure ( Mechanical ) and Air/Fuel. My Problem is that my Boost/Vac gauge is seated at -10 when the car is turned off which leads me to believe that I am getting inaccurate readings when the car is running. This gauge is very important to my motor/Turbo's well being. This is the 2nd Boost/Vac gauge I have had go bad. The first was an Ultra-Lite Boost/Vac ( 30-20 ). I didnt bother writing to your company when that one failed, because I knew I was going to be upgrading to the ( 30-30 ) gauge I have now. Since I plan on keeping and running Auto-Meter products I was wondering if there were anyway I could have this gauge repaired or replaced. I am willing to send my gauge to your company as I have heard you have great customer service, and are a very personal coorperation. Please let me know what can be done to take care of my problem. On your EGT gauge, are you sure that the connections that connect the wire to the probe are not accidently grounding themselves out or touching?? Also if you acciently hook up the EGT gauge wrong, hook the wires up backwards, it will fry the gauge.

On the water temp gauge, i would do what eclipsetrbo420a said, write autometer and see if they can fix it/replace it for you.
 
Autometer sent me a new probe when my gauge was acting up and eventually replaced it when the probe didn't fix it. Great customer service. I have since sold my egt but i still have the autometer boost gauge i have had since 2003 and it works flawlessly. My buddy Matt is having ssues with his egt gauge as well.
