First off i searched and found only one thread with the same problems as me which came up inconclusive from 04 otherwise i wouldnt have posted this. I have a 92 TSI awd. The relay by the ecu part # E8T07071 is constantly clicking only when the car is turned off aswell as one of the black solinoids by the drivers side strut tower on the firewall. If i unplug the relay the sound stops and it doesnt kill my battery. Should i try replacing the relay? or the ecu(no fish smell)? I really just dont want to spend alot of money on things if i dont have to. The thing i think is wierd is that once its running its totally fine, no surge, somtimes idles high, no sputter, boosts fine, gauges are fine ect and it will go hard through the gears no issues. The problem is only when the car is turned off. anyone that has any insite please reply. Thanks

Have you had your charging system checked out? I've seen a good number of cars with clicking relays that also have problems with the charging system. Such as a dying battery, bad ground, etc.
From me not unplugging the relay one time the battery ended up dying and it happened alot so i actually JUST put a new battery in the car thismorning. It solved alot of other wierd thing happening like the check engine light coming on when i push the brake and just other wierd stuff. Ill check out all the grounds tomorrow once i get up and clean all i can reach with a wire brush. I just dont get how if my key is completly out and the car is off how that stupid relay is getting power to click. On a side note i have a blitz turbo timer if that has any effect but thats been in the car for years no ill symptoms. THE REAL DEAL- thanks for the thread and insite your problem seems to be very similar ill try the things mentioned then update this thread.
