Well I was trying to install a Remote Starter kit on my 91 GSX. I got the kit for free and I was just going to use it as a turbo timer, being that once you remote start it, the car runs for a few minutes, than shuts itself off..

Well once we finished installing everything, I put the negative battery terminal back on the battery, and the engine started cranking... It was a very very confusing task, so I was not suprised something wasnt right.. But after we couldnt figure it out, We decided to remove it all and put it back to stock.. Once back to normal, the car will not run.. It turns over and everything but wont start.. I have spark, fuel, compression, and it is in time.. I have the Full stand alone AEM engine management.

WTF DID I DO?

I attempted to install a remote starter system on my 91 GSX. Unfortunately, the wires on the harness and on the directions did not match the ones on my car. So we tested some wires and came to our conclusions, and hooked it up the best we knew how. After all was install, I put the negative battery terminal back on, and immediately the engine started cranking over. So I removed it and began to troubleshoot what wire was wrong.

We couldnt fix it, so I removed the remote starter and put it back to factory, put all wires back to where they belong, and then tried to start the car. The car started up, and backfired really loud... It started up a couple more times after that but would immediately die... Now it wont run at all.. I have AEM Stand alone computer, we checked it out, and it is working properly. I did a compression check, its fine, I checked injector pulse and its fine. I checked for spark, and its fine. Everything needed for the car to run is there, but WTF IS WRONG?? Someone please help.

Some remote starts will try to crank the engine when you connect power to them. Maybe you need to reload something to the AEM unit since the battery was disconnected for awhile.

This should help you if you decide to tackle the remote start again:

12volts white + ignition harness
Starter black/yellow + ignition harness
Ignition black/white + ignition harness
Accessory blue/black + ignition harness
Keysense
Power Lock brown/blue - relays right of column
Power Unlock brown/white - relays right of column
Parking Lights+ green/white above hood release
Parking Lights- blue/white or gray steering column
Door Trigger green/red - above hood release
Dome Supervision use door trigger
Trunk/Hatch Pin common with doors
Factory Alarm Disarm brn/wht or brn/blk - DKP harness from door
Disarm No Unlock
Tachometer white AC instrument cluster
Notes: Also found at a connector above the hood release.
Brake Wire green + brake pedal switch
Parking Brake
Horn Trigger grn/blk and grn/wht -/+ steering column
Notes: Steering column wire is neg. on green/black. The other side of the horn rests at ignition on green/white. Find green/white at fuse box, fuse number 10, 10 amp. Use two relays, one to throw pos. to green/white and one to throw neg. to green/black at steering column.

What do I need to load into the AEM?? I'm really stumped, I've tried everything there is to try.. If someone can please help me with this I would appreciate it.. I dont know anything about the AEM, or what to load back into it, or how to do it.

But by the way, thanks a lot for all the wiring help, if I ever get the bi*** running again, and have another car to drive just in case, I'll try it.

why would a remote starter system automatically crank over when you connect the battery up after installation, unless I have someone hooked up correctly?

Sorry so long to respond. I really don't know what you would need to do about the AEM. I have read on here somewhere that when they're first put in that the car won't even start. You may want to do a search and see what you find.
I know about the remote start stuff from installing them. Certain ones will try to start the car after the battery has been reconnected.
