Starting Issue

hey guys! here's the scoop...97 GSX 5-speed...brand new motor...go to fire it up for the first time..."click"...so after a few mins of swearing, and making a stiff drink....i begin diagnosis...i have switched starters with a car that is currently running perfect...ecu's...starter relays...all fuses check out ok...motor turns over nice and free by hand...checked and compared all grounds (even tried re-locating a few) still have the nastly click @ the relay. this is a bone stock motor with no changes what so ever from the factory setup. all sensor's are plugged in properly. i am running out of ideas...i'm going to bring a multi-meter and circuit tester home from work tomorrow but i thought it might be a good idea to check with you guys first to see if anyone has run into this problem before. thanks in advance for your help!!

batt. for my car tested at 12.3V @ 572 CCA...i borrowed the batt. from my truck at the time too and still got nothing. getting ready to go test for power even getting to the starter.

ok guys i wanted to let ya know that i got it figure out...the starter switch wire (single black wire that plugs into the starter itself) had broken inside the plastic protective covering that goes over all the wiring to shield them from heat...so after tearing all that crap off i was finally able to find the problem...fix it and actually fire the thing up! thing is running great at the moment!
