this is my 1st time ever attempting to do this so bare with me i been reading off the haynes manual.
Ever since i got my car form the shop its been hell for me!
took it in for a complete t-belt job..get it back with the worlds shitest idle combined with a really bad oil leak..the mechanic said the oil leak is from the headgasket.
i allready order a oem hg and arp studs there on the way.
but the problem is that when i took off the timing belt cover i notice that all the marks are off..(probaly explains extremly shity idle)
im tryin to make it go 2 tdc so i can remove the cylinder head block the dowel pins on the cams are facing up but a lil off with the marks..not exactly 12 o'clock, then when i look down the balance sproket and oil sproket marks are pointing down..arent the marks suppose to be pointing up??

if its not aligned..how do i properly aligned it? take off the belt and hand turn the sprokets and cams clock wise till there all lined up??

can i jus remove the head even if its not at tdc to replace the gasket??

sorry for the questions i jus dont want to mess anything up that allready is..

If you are telling me that any of your timing marks are not lined up, then my advice is to take it back to the shop and tell them. You paid for the job to be done right, and if the marks are off, it has not been done right. Have them fix it at no extra cost of time or money to you.

That being said, if you want to do it yourself, you should have just done the whole TB job yourself as you will likely re-do most of the work the shop did. First off take tension off of the belt and line up the marks one by one (with the belt off of the gears) making sure to take into consideration that tensioning the belt may throw off the marks a bit.

Once you think you have them lined up, crank the motor over at least 6 full rotations by hand (socket wrench to the crank pulley). Check the marks again. If they are dead on, then you are good to start...but if they are bad, you've got to re-do everything again until you get it right.

I would suggest taking it back to the shop, And having them re-do their mistakes, Without charging you ANYTHING. They're lucky you did not hurt the engine. If they do not want to fix their mistakes, Get your money back, Or take them to court.
