I've been having overheating issues. I've replaced just about everything in the cooling system except the 2 temp sensors in the thermostat housing. When I got the car it had an aftermarket radiator fan already on it. It turns on, but my question is what direction should it be blowing? The factory fan for the AC blows towards the engine, and that is what the diagram on the shroud illustrates. The aftermarket fan blows towards the radiator (opposite of the factory fan). In fact, when it turns on I can feel it blowing hot air on my feet when I'm standing in front of the car. The diagram on it shows that as the direction it should blow by an arrow. Shouldn't both fans be blowing in the same direction? I don't have another eclipse to look at as a point of reference. Any help would be great!

You have to styles of fans there is a pusher and a puller. The aftermarket one sounds like a pusher which should be on the front side of your radiator. Your a/c fan is correct. Some aftermarket fans are reversible. All you have to do to try it is switch the to wires that are the main ones going to your fan, But do this at your own risk. Or you could just move it to the front of your radiator

You always want airflow to run the same direction it does going down the road. Yours may be wired backward, or be mounted on the wrong side of the radiator.
Most also have blades that are shaped so that the "swirl" is like a paddlewheel sander against a surface, swept back from the hub.

thanks for the replies!
That is what I was thinking, that they should be going in the same direction. I don't think there is enough room to mount it in the front of the radiator. I might try to reverse the wiring (it is the swirly kind). But my best bet is to go to the junk yard and find a factory one.

just wanted to let ya'll know that I decided to reverse the wiring, even though that might ruin the electric motor. I thought since I was going to buy a fan anyway why not try. Well, I did and it worked! Awesome! :rocks:
So now both fans are bowing in the same direction - towards the engine. Thanks for the help Defiant and bluetlr2001!
