My friend got his caps done by some electronics repair technician. But I think the repair guy is a retard :beatentodeath: because he failed to clean the acid that leaked on the surface which caused this very unfortunate thing to happen...

The above pics belong to a busted 5808 VR-4 RS ECU.
The car seemed to run fine after installing new caps but 2 months later it suddenly just died.
The only available replacement part we have now is the IC110 donor from a '90 non-EPROM 3695 A/T ECU. But I noticed that there are differences on the layout of the vertical board. Even the part numbers are not the same. Pics here...

Just wondering if anyone here knew if those parts are interchangeable. Thanks in advance guys!

Thanks for the quick reply Sir Steve. BTW, I found a '91 N/A Galant ECU collecting dust with some of my old stuff and the IC110 from it is exactlly the same as with the 5808's. I hope this one works... :thumb:

It will. It is the same part.

Now I'm relieved. BTW, what are the other functions of IC110 aside from controlling the MPI relay and fuel pump? What are the differences between the ones installed in a '90 and a '91 ECU?

Mostly the leak would flow downwards to C38 but this one goes as far as C19 to C20. I already found two open traces and there might be more... It seems like almost half of the ECU is corroding. :(
