Well i finally got the head and new timing belt put back on. I used the turbo cams on my N/A. The timing marks all line up. I dont have the front assembly on though, so i dont have the altenator running or the water pump turning. I did get the car to start but it runs really rough. Everything is hooked up so i dont know what the problem could be. Thanks Mike

Nope im not getting any. The check engine will come on when i first start it and then it goes off. The car seems like there is a vacuum leak somewhere but i cant find it. At idle it will be really rough and then when i give it gas it hardly wants to rev. But once you get it to about 3500 to 4000 it will rev up quick. I dont know if not having the alternator hooked up will cause this. I only let it run for alittle bit.
Thanks Mike

Ya thats what i was thinking, im not sure if not having the alt hooked up will cause any problems, or if the CAS from the turbo head is bad, or if i need to adjust it.

Well i got the front assembly on and it still runs like crap, i looked at it with a timing light and its about 5 deg with the ecm grounded. i cant fiqure this out

well i have found out that i do have spark going to the number four cylinder but i can pull the wire on and off and it doesnt make a difference of how it runs.

another update, did a compression test and i have zero compression in the number 4 cylinder.

well i looked at the compression on the 3 other cylinders and they are at 180psi. I did a leak down test on the cylinder that has no compression. I put the motor at TDC and filled the cylinder with air. I could hear air going out the exhaust. So to me i think my valves on the cylinder are screwed. I just payed 200 bucks for the head on the car, so it looks like i got a bad head.

Obviously these motors are interefearance so if the valve was completely dropped you would have known it by now haha. I haven't been thru the valve train of these motors yet (I am new to DSMs) but perhaps you have a collapsed lifter (if they are hydrolic).

Pull off your valve cover, fill the problem cyl with comp. air and pull the valve spring retainers and the springs out. See if you can spin the valve/move the valve etc. Don't flip out and just yank the head. Maybe you will get lucky.

The head is not the one that was on the car when the timing belt broke. The valves in that head where all bent. This head i bought and the guy said it was rebuilt. I cant fill the cylinder with air because it leaks out of the exhaust valve.

I know that you have a different head on, but the new head could have a problem. I bought a "rebuilt" head for my supra. The guy bolted the cams on and had it sitting on his garage floor. With the cams on, 2 valves were dropped below the deck surface and got bent. Find some way from keeping the valve from dropping (maybe bring that piston to TDC) so you can pull the springs and see how easily the exh. valves will move for you.

Sounds to me like the valves for that cyl. are bad or the seats are bad. You have to pull the head and look at the vavles. Line the timing marks up first before you pull it and see if the vavles are seating. You can pull the vavle cover and see if the rockers are loose for that cyl. just crank the engine by hand and see if there is a point where the rockers move around alot if there is then you have a bent valve of 2.

Well i took the valve cover off and turned the motor over by hand and there where no rockers that where lose. So i guess i will just have to take the head off again.
