I have a 1g talon awd. Ok so I was driving home last night night and I had my brights on and a car was comming so i hit my dims, well when I did that my headlights went out, I have been having some problems with the starter and the battery could that cause this problem or could it be something else..... I think maby the ignition switch but I don't know. Any insight would be great.:talon: :beatentodeath:

hmm you could check the wirring in your steering colum for your light switch, make sure its not loose or shorting. what problems have you been having with thte startor and battery? have you had any electrical problems with other accessories?

You could check the voltage of your alternator maybe your regulator is going bad. also check to see what kind of change there is when you turn off the brights/turn them on while running, it should go down a little bit but go right back.

from your discription, it could be a variety of things. When your lights when out, did they come back on (how long did it take)? Did you try switching back to high beam, or are you sure both beams were out? What kind of starter and battery problems have you been having. Typically, a simple battery/ignition problem will not effect your headlights, but a short (or bad ground) somewhere can cause all types of problems. Are you sure it is just your headlights acting up? Did your interior lights (dash/console) go out?

Check your battery cables and your battery connections (especially at the load ends)? Check your fuses?
You can put a voltmeter at the fuse to check to see if it is your switch that is bad (so you don't have to take apart the dash/steering column)?
