Ok, I was on the freeway, I got on it in third gear, when all of a sudden there was a lost of power. I held down the gas pedal, but it just was not responsive. I let off the gas a bit and the engine just shut off. I pulled over, and could start the car, but it wouldn't stay on for more than 1-2 seconds. However, if I held the gas pedal down all the way to the floor, it would stay on (sputtering) at about 1000-1200 rpms, but as soon as I let off, it would die. I checked my mas airflow sensor, it was ok, and all my vacuum lines seem to be intact. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you Blew off an intercooler pipe..if thats not the case do a boost leak test.

I agree that it does sound like a blown off intercooler pipe. However, that sounds like a large enough whole that the inspection shouldnt need to be more than visual to find the leak. Id say check your pipes.

The intercooler piping checks out. if it was a blown off intercooler pipe, the car would still be able to stay on, which is not the case here. I couldn't figure it out, i'm taking the car down to the shop tomorrow.

not in all cases..depends on where and how far the pipe is off... i blew off my throttle body pipe...boom died.i blow off a pipe after the intercooler it will stay running..

The timing was being retarded as well, I couldn't figure it out. I figured it to be the Mas airflow sensor, but it didn't seem to have anything wrong with it, so I cleaned out the contact points on the connectors, reattached the clip the harness a little tighter and that fixed the problem... Go figure, it's always the most simple problem. ROFL Thanks for the help guys.

Well, the cars been running fine since. I guess it was just a bad connection between the plug and the MAS air. I just cleaned it out like I said, and plugged it back in really tightly. And yes, the check engine light was on.

My advice, check your MAS air very carefully, it might be a little loose, bad connection, or just a bad mas air.
