Ottawa,
I purchased the car with a audio problem. The owner doesn't know whats wrong so he dropped 400 dolla of the asking price. The stock infinity head unit works. Powers on, cd loads and reads, radio scans just no audio sound. The amp I changed and I checked the fuse under the hood, which is good. Any other suggestions ###.

Check all of your speaker wire from cd to the doors might have a short or for some reason been cut.

I second this. I bought my car with a problem alot like that. My temporary solution was to disconnect the back right speaker.(since when one shorts out it shorts out the whole system)

Shortly after I just replaced the wiring to that speaker and presto! It works like a charm.

Well... Im sensitive when it comes to audio. buy a decent aftermarket radio, and rewire the speakers and headunit so that you know that there are no connection problems. The only real problem that i have encountered, is that on one of the cars that i worked on, one of the clips was cut off, and it left a wire *unground(if thats a word) and the indash lights would not work correctly. Take your time, and ref to manual when needed. ;)

The stock amp is under the passenger seat. Remove the seat (really easy, just 4 bolts), fold over the flap of carpet and look at the side that has the harness going into the amp (pointing toward the passenger door). You should also see a thick, black cord going into the amp. This is for your antenna. Make sure that is properly plugged in. If not, then you might very well not hear anything out of your speakers. If that is plugged in the way it should, I would suggest checking the back of the Infinity deck to make sure it's plugged in there as well.
And yes, that problem occurs when playing a CD as well. I went through that same problem a month ago when I tore my carpet out to clean it and rip all the sound deadening out.
Hope this leads you to an easy fix.
