base timing on the 6 bolt, right or left?

im tryin to fix the misfire on my six bolt swap. say we are facing the cam angle sensor. do i turn it to the left or to the right. around how much. i keep getting misfire codes. thanks
 
Misfire has nothing to do with the timing you are running. It's the ECU seeing a different signal than what it's supposed to and freaking out. Only fix are the pot mod or dsmlink.

Left= retard timing
Right= advance timing

Again, this will not change the misfire condition.

what is the pot mod? currently what i have now is the TPS sensor disconnected. it does the trick. but i am tryn to pass emmisions. my friend said the only thing that is required is to have no check engine light. See when i disconect the tps it solves the misfire but get CEL because of it. but when i plug it in. Then i get the random misfire code. what can i do to cure both. also should i advance timing or retard it. thanks keep me updated.
 
Just do a search for it on here...it's a bandaid fix and i don't recommend it but i guess it works.

Just type in "pot mod" in the search field up there and you will get tons of threads on it.

You can also try a black top cas (93-94) as it has the best signal and somewhat reduces random misfire.
 
On top of this the only correct way, IE not a shot in the dark, is to use a timming light. Once that is hooked up it will take a few seconds to see what direction changes timming in the desired direction.
