As summer has recently arrived, the use of my A/C has become much more usual.

Lately though, I have a weird problem where when my A/C is on, the RPMs stay up a second or two longer after I depress the clutch. Though when A/C is off, everything functions normally. Any idea what this could be?

The AC compressor will cause ## motor to rev higher.

Its nothing to really be worried about. my 95 TSI does the same thing at idle and also my friends mr2.

Your AC is belt driven off the motor, so when the A/C is on that's just a little bit more for the motor to turn, so your car will in turn idle just a little bit differently.

Also, just thought I'd add.. when my A/C was on, it also affected my alternator a little bit... It was just barely noticeable, but you could pick up the difference on my digital voltmeter.
