well the dipstick hasnt been showing any oil at all, except when i just start it it pushing oil up on the stick, then once i clean it and put it back in nothing. I've added oil let the car run checked it again. I think ive found a small leak, but i should still have some kinda reading. what do i do :barf:

i looks like its above the oil filter somewhere i havent actually pin pointed it yet... i may have to change my oil again just to make sure

does that engine restore stuff help with leaks any like it says or is it a total scam? and should i use a thicker oil?

Personally I don’t mix in anything with my oil so I would not know. Even though nearly every DSM has an oil leak in one way or another, that doesn’t mean its ok. I would try and pin point the leak first. How much does it leak? A cap full a day, a qt. a day, or just like saturation? Does it leak while running or when parked? Post as much detail as possible.

it seems to be a small leak or just evaporation, it looks like a small leak by the alternator above the oil filter just the filter is slightly damp, none of it reaches the floor of my garage though. i added the rest of the quart and am hoping to get some sort of reading if not im just gonna put it on ramps n change the oil again.

The way it sounded is like it was there one minute and no reading the next. Mine used to eat around 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart per month. It sucked. I recently did a balance shaft removal and afterwards it doesnt leak at all. I am guessing it was the gasket on the case or oil filter bracket that went bad. If it is just dirty then you can probally let it go but I would kind of keep an eye on it. Let us know what you find.

thanks for helping me out. ill keep u updated on what i find out

First reaction is 'add a quart and re-test', then repeat until you get a reading... but that seems a little obvious. When the engine runs, it kicks the oil around a bit, giving you an inaccurate reading. If my car has nothing on the stick, usually I'll add a quart, wait five minutes and check it. Remember, from the 'low' to the 'full' line is ONE quart. (Had a guy come in who'd seen no oil on the stick, added five quarts when he needed about one and a half, and churned the engine to death.)

Any stop-leak you put into the system will gum up your turbo too. Don't do it. Just find where there's an oil smear, and look at the top of it. Should be right around there. If it's too oily to tell, clean your engine. :b Takes a while, but you'll be able to tell where the oil is coming from, and have a slightly prettier engine bay to boot.

You're post is confusing. Are you adding oil until it reaches the full line on the dipstick?

i added around a court and a half maybe or something and its full... after i changed the turbo we found a washer was to big and leakin oil and as of now everything is goin good
