ok, so here is my problem. when i first bought my 91 eagle talon tsi awd i ran it at the track, all i had done was a mbc at twelve pounds because i hooked it up wrong. i ran a 14.9 at 93 mph. since then i fixed the boost problem and was boosting 15 lbs. so i run it at the track with my car at 15 lbs and a new 255 fuel pump, centerforce dual friction clutch, no cat, three inch cat back exhaust and my car is running like crap. i run low fifteens all night with a sixty foot of 1.9. so then i come across a better boost controller because mine was a bleeder. now i boosted the car to 18 pounds and it liked the boost i went from losing to my buddy by four carlengths and after boosting it to eighteen i began beating him by one and a half. so last night i take my car out to the track to see what it can do and my best time was a 14.8 at 87 with a 1.9 sixty foot. ### is wrong with my car??? it started to drop boost down to 16 pounds while racing and it was getting blowby, and it i ran back to back the cars temp would rise higher than usual. i have a 180 thermostat in the car and never had a problem before not even in this arizona heat until now.. anyone have any idea whats going on?

A couple things could be an issue here. The 255 pump is over running your stock regulator, which is probably why it runs bad at low boost and better at 18. I'm not saying it's good to run that high of boost right now, but just letting you know what is happening. If you were boosting at 18 psi and it dropped to 16 you could have a boost leak, but from what you described in running back to back time trials sounds like you heat soaked the small sidemount intercooler. Without a larger intercooler these cars need to cool down or you will pull timing, which sounds like what is happening. Look into getting an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, and a logger so you car run higher boost levels safely. Try taking either some ice packs or a pump sprayer filled with water to help drop you I.C temps between runs. Best of luck.

when i took it down to a shop when i first got my fuel pump the mechanic told me it was pushing too much fuel. does that mean i should lower the psi? when my car isn't overheating it pulls strong and feels great atleast to my butt dyno. i have been wanting to get a fuel pressure regulator anyways so i guess now i am forced into it. could it be my stock blow off valve leaking the boost? i still have the factory side mount and it never gave me problems before, but then again i wasn't pushing 18 psi before.

Getting the AFPR and adjusting your pressure wil definately help, but you will need some type of logging software to help you make the proper adjustments. You don't want to be guessing how much to drop your fuel pressure. As far as the BOV leaking it is possible but not likely. The 1g valve is pretty good for what your doing right now. A sure way to tell is do a boost leak test and pressurize the system to 20 psi and listening for leaks or use the soapy water technique.

sweet, well thanks for your help man, i'll post again once i start to get a solution. i really had no clue what to blame the car running so bad
