idle surge...?

I have been looking at all the idle surge threads and still havent found the one that is pertaining to my car. My problem is when you start it the idle bounces between 1500 and 1600 rpms, up and down until the car gets warm. After it gets warm it does surge anymore but if i rev the car up when the rpms come down they go down to almost less than 500 and the car almost stalls. Any ideas what it could be? thanks

Sounds like the common ISC failure. That's a lot of reading on that link, but I had to do the same to fully understand it. ISC's are expensive...$250-ish new. You can find them on eBay used occasionally.

Check for vaccum leaks as well.
