I have a 95 eclipse gst FWD. I parked my car last fall because after a night of hard driving it wouldn't go in gear. I coasted home and let it sit over night. The next morning i started it and to my suprise it was making this weird grinding noise, almost like the bindix on the starter isn't coming off the flywheel. I still won't go into gear. Does anyone have any ideas about what this could be?

I also am having another problem with my starter. When i hit the key it clicks almost like its a bad sylanoid, but i have changed the starter in the past to try to solve the problem.if you hit the ket enough times the car will start. I recently saw a post on another forum saying he was having the same problem as me. The previous owner of my car replaced the master cylender. when he replaced it he tried adjusting the clutch rod. Would the adjustment have anything to do with any of my problems. and if so what is the proper adjustment for the master cylender.

I am also have a similir oil leak to another post on this forum. My guess was front main or balance shaft because of where the oil is. I guess my question is where are common oil leaks on 2g's

Thanks 4 you help
Jeff

will the car go into gear when its not turned on?

If so, then it has to do with your clutch.

Try adjusting the pedal, so that you get more movement. Then check where the clutch cylinder is pushing on the fork. If its pushing the fork to the max but it still won't go into gear, then youll have to take off the tranny

That grinding could be something that got in between your pp and disk. THe same thing happened to me, and it was one of my disk springs.

The car will go into gear when its off. Do u think i need to replace the clutch? Its newer about 15,000 miles and its a clutchmasters.

Also you might want to check the clutch slave cylinder to see if it is pushing againest the fork. Of course you will need someone to asset you.......

when i blew the springs out of my clutch in my gst i could only put the car in gear while it was off. i had to start it in first and shift with out using the clutch. when i had to stop i would have to turn the car off or let it stall. the springs fell between the pressure plate and clutch disc stoping it from disengaging. When my starter went bad it would make a loud a$$ grinding noise as i started the car and a second after... good luck hope this helps.
