Hey everyone, it seems like my spark is getting blown out cruising on the highway at above 3000 rpms. i'll be cruising at a constant speed, not under load at all, and it feels like my spark will get blown out in one or more cylinders. if I catch it in time and let off the gas completely within half a second, it goes back to normal, if not it will stay in that state even if i do let off the gas, then get back on it. then, i need to let the car just idle for a few seconds, then it goes back to normal. it is happening on different cylinders because sometimes when it happens my egt gauge drops to almost zero, and other times, it stays normal. it does this sometimes under boost

i've tried numerous sets of wires,
brand new sets of bpr6es&7es gapped to .028
swapped my coilpack
NO LOGGER
NO BOOST LEAKS
stock 450's, no fuel management
running 10 psi
this is on a 98gsx 6bolt
any help is appreciated
thanks

Sounds like your experiencing random/multiple cylinder misfire. This is common on 6-bolt/2G swaps. This is due to the cam angle sensor. It will eventually, if not already throw the code. The only way I found around it was stand-alone. I remember mine did it for the first couple of months and then eventually went away. How long have you had the swap?

hey, thanks for the reply. i've had the swap for 6 months. the thing is- it just started doing this recently. it was working pretty well 2 months ago, and I havent really done any other mods since i've gotten the swap. i'm definitely going to try another cas. I have a used one, but i'd prefer to get a new one if they are not rediculously expensive. Do you know where to get a good deal on a new one?
thanks
Sean

That's the thing, all CAS will do this. I don't remember exactly but I think there are two versions. Some people say one will reduce it more but I personally don't think it will make a difference. On one of my DSMs the problem just went away but on my other one, stand alone engine management cured it.

This is a way around it:http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1864704&posted=1#post1864704

There are actually 3 versions...

V1. 90 cas- with wiring on it/ Optical Effect
V2. 91-92 cas- metal end cap/ no wiring out just a male plug/ Optical Effect
V3. 93-94 cas- Plastic end cap/ no wiring out just a male plug/ Hall Effect

The Optical Effect sensor is more likely to be less accurate with age as it is possible for sensor to get tricked.
The Hall Effect is the same sensor used on the 2g, so this clearly the best option for a 2g swap.
