I have a 90 laser turbo that I am having problems figuring out a couple of things. 1) The injectors are not recieving a signal and i'm not sure where they get the signal for firing the injectors. 2) I am not getting a very strong spark its very hard to see. 3) Only 1 side of the MPI relay seems to be working i know that this get a signal from the ECM (i think), the fuel pump turns on but the injectors and spark are not working. I took ECM out of the car and took it apart the inside is clean and free from burnt section and i don't smell any thing. These are the last few things i need to fix before I get the car running. If anyone could help me out on this i would greatly appreciate it.

To me it sounds like it is a ecu problem. I would see if a local guy has one you can borrow to test. Also make sure all your fuses are ok including the ones by the battery.
 
You could also check your cam and crank angle sensors. You can find the insturctions on how to check them on a repair manual but if you need it just let me know.
 
Ok so far i went through and did alot of wire testing and found that i was not getting power to ECU because of a clipped wire. I fixed the wire but she still would not start. I started checking the MPI relay and found that only one side was closing and if i close the other side i could get the injectors and spark to fire. Now i'm to the point that it is either the ECU or a bad MPI relay with both of the cotacts closed i get power to Pins 102 and 107. I have 12 v at pin 103 and 12 v at 110 when key is turned on. I took MPI out and did a continuity test across both coils only to find there was continuity on one side but not the other this make me think that the one coil has a broken wire on it maybe in the coil. If anyone knows how to test this Please let me know i am going to take a run to the junkyard in the morning when they open to see if i can find a good MPI relay and i am going to take my DVOM with me so i don't have to waste alot of time at the yard.

Ok i took an ecu out of a friends 90 laser rs and and still only one side of the MPI relay closes so no i am stumped big time. I think it has to be something simple just not sure where to look next. I can ground pin 7 on MPI relay and close the other side. the side that runs the fuel pump works fine. I think it may be a grounding issue. Where does pin 7 get its ground from. I know the ECU isn't the problem because the i have in now is out of a running car. Any help would be great.
 
I pulled ECU out and I think I found the problem Now i just need to find out if I can just replace the caps or not and it this board is repairable or if i hafe to flip $300 out fo a rebuilt ECU.
