I have a 91 tsi awd I'm working on at the moment and it I can't rev past 4k, when ever I start it, it'll take a few trys to even start once it starts it will idle low around 500-600 and then I'll have to give it some gas it takes about 10-20 secs before it'll rev past 1000. after it revs past 1k it reves normally but as soon as I get to 4k it sounds like it is trying real hard and the steering wheel will start to shake. I've searched for almost a week now in threads because usually I'll find the answer but I have yet

heres things I've done: changed spark plugs and wires, tested for boost leaks I have 2 one from the bov, checked ecu for leaks nothing, tried to adjust the fuel with my safc no matter how much fuel I give or take doesn't change anything, if I rev it a few times around 2-3 it will remain to idle if not then it will just die, it will go into gear and drive except it bogs to where I can get out and walk faster then drive the car literaly, and I have to press the gas rev it past 3k then release the clutch and if it goes anywhere near 1k it just sucks the idle and tries to die. any help is needed and I hope I gave a good description oh yeah and theres no cell light at all.

When I get in a rush I sometimes forget to connect my MAF, and it runs similar to the description you gave for your car. I am guessing that the ECU is not receiving an airflow signal, so also check to see that the input and output connections for your SAFC are still intact.

yeah the safc is installed had to doulbe check that and all the wiring and everything it's set for karmen also, I was thinking about the maf going out but don't have another one at the moment to swap with it also doesn't help that I'm the only 1g and awd for 100 miles around me. I'm gonna go check the timing later today to see what it is.

Check each cylinder for spark. My car had these exact symptoms and we just figured out that it was the coil pack. Cylinder 2 wasn't firing at all and cylinder 3 was coming in and out. Hope this helps.

yeah I'm seriously thinking it's the coil, I triple checked the maf, the connection of the safc, the ecu all wiring, all the fuses, the timing is set perfect, but it still bogs down but if I get it to actually stay on and running it just started to idle correct, theres no boost leaks anywhere, I'm just pounding my head against the wall hear I changed the fuel pump and filter, to no help. so now it's time to change that stinking coil pack.

Well obviously if it's starting to idle right even for a little bit now, then something you're doing is working, so try to stay on that track.

update: well I have done a boost leak test all fixed, compression test is 170 across, timing is set perfectly, swapped the fuel pump, fuel filter, mas, ecu, turbo has 0 shaft play, installed another one in fact, rechecked the wiring to my safc2 and that it's set to karmen, changed the isc and tps and still I can't rev this b**ch past 4k it stops dead and will not pass, also I've changed the fpr before I forget also the injectors, also all of these parts are stock, can't upgrade anything till I atleast get it fixed, any one know of anything else that I may have not thought off any wisemen mods wanna put a couple words in.
